Police are asking the public for help identifying a suspect who stole handmade jewelry from a child in Langford last week.
West Shore RCMP says the theft happened on Wednesday, July 17, around 3:30 p.m. from the front porch of a house along Lakehurst Drive.
Mounties say that the suspect stole around 40 bracelets from a display stand left out on the porch.
They say these bracelets were handmade by an 11-year-old girl who was selling them outside her residence with a collection on display. When the girl and her parent went inside their home for a few minutes and came back out, a majority of the bracelets were missing.
“The handmade bracelets featured gemstones and charms that were priced at $15 a piece. Approximately 40 bracelets were stolen totalling $600 in value,” Mounties said.
Video surveillance shows a woman approaching the home, putting the bracelets into her bag, and walking away with haste.
Anyone with information about this theft or knows who the suspect could be is asked to call the West Shore RCMP at 250-474-2264. It can also be anonymously reported through Crim Stoppers online or by calling 1-800-222-8477.
