Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau made an unscheduled stop at Vancouver’s Pride festivities Sunday.
Trudeau posted on social media that Vancouver Pride is “where it all started,” saying he kicked off his 2015 campaign at the annual event nine years ago.
He didn’t walk in the parade but did walk for a block in the area before the event started, shaking hands and taking selfies with people.
Trudeau wore a black T-shirt with an image of a rainbow-coloured feather on the front, grey pants, and black running shoes.
Thousands attend Vancouver’s annual Pride Parade, which includes vibrant floats, numerous groups and organizations, and joyous people.
Trudeau’s appearance came as he looks to regain some support, with the Liberals trailing the Conservatives in the polls.
Abacus Data said in late July that, if an election were held right now, 42 per cent of committed voters would vote for the Conservatives, while 23 per cent would vote for the Liberals. The pollster found that 20 per cent said they’d vote NDP and four per cent Green.
