One person has died after crash that closed section of Hwy 1 through Langley and Abbotsford Friday

One person has died after a crash on Highway 1 Friday evening that closed a stretch from Langley to Abbotsford eastbound overnight.
The Langley RCMP says the incident happened around 10 p.m. just past the 264th Street exit.
“A tow truck that was pulling another truck collided with the rear of a semi trailer,” Sgt. Joe Leeson told 1130 NewsRadio.
“Unfortunately, the driver of the tow truck was deceased at the scene.”
The collision had the highway closed going east from 264th in Langley to Bradner Road in Abbotsford well into Saturday morning.
BC Emergency Health Services says it was called out for the incident shortly after it happened.
“Two ground ambulances with primary care paramedics, a ground ambulance with advanced care paramedics and an air ambulance with critical care paramedics attended the scene,” said Provincial Health Services Authority communications specialist Jenny Peng.
“One patient was transported to hospital.”
Leeson says it was the passenger of the tow truck that was airlifted to hospital with serious injuries.
The tow truck was pulling a vehicle at the time of the crash.
Eastbound lanes on the highway were closed for about 12 hours.
