The Integrated Homicide Investigation Team (IHIT) says a man is in custody Friday, charged with the murder of his father on the Sunshine Coast last year.
IHIT says the Sunshine Coast RCMP responded to reports of a suspicious death on Sept. 23, 2023. When officers arrived at the Klein Lake Forest Service Road in Egmont, B.C., they found a man suffering from serious injuries. Police say the man, 58-year-old Henry Doyle from Vancouver, eventually succumbed to his injuries.
Investigators determined that Doyle travelled to the area on his dirtbike — which was found near his body. Work from the BC Coroners Service helped IHIT deem the man’s death as suspicious.
On Friday, the BC Prosecution Service approved one count of first-degree murder against Doyle’s 26-year-old son, Jackson Doyle, in relation to the alleged homicide.
Police say he will remain in custody until his first court appearance.
