The Integrated Homicide Investigation Team (IHIT) says a suspect has been charged in relation to a homicide in West Vancouver on Friday morning.
West Vancouver Police officers responded to a 911 call from an apartment near Esquimalt Avenue and 14th Street in the Ambleside neighbourhood where they found a deceased person with injuries that they say appeared suspicious.
After an initial investigation, a suspect was arrested at the scene. Later in the day, 39-year-old Michael Dean Boretsky was charged with second-degree murder.
“We believe that this was a tragic incident of family violence,” said Corp. Esther Tupper of the Integrated Homicide Investigation Team (IHIT).
“As the parties were known to one another, investigators believe this to be an isolated event.”
Anyone with any information or who was in the area around 1 a.m. is asked to call IHIT at 1-877-551-4448 or email ihitinfo@rcmp-grc.gc.ca.
