Vancouver Island police: man arrested after alleged kidnapping of other man

Police on Vancouver Island say one man is in custody after an alleged kidnapping in Duncan last week.

The North Cowichan Duncan RCMP says it responded to reports of a possible kidnapping incident near Queens Road on Feb. 19.

“It was reported that two men were seen on video assaulting and placing a third man into a vehicle,” said Mounties.

While patrolling later that day, police reportedly spotted the suspect vehicle, seized it, and arrested one man.

Police say the victim was found safe.

Mounties say a man was charged Thursday with kidnapping, assault with a weapon, and assault and possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose.

“He remains in custody awaiting his next court appearance.”

Anyone with information to share about the alleged kidnapping is asked to call the North Cowichan Duncan RCMP at 250-748-5522.
