Surrey police make arrest in non-extortion related overnight shooting

The Surrey Police Service (SPS) arrested a 46-year-old man who is believed to be the main suspect in an overnight shooting in Surrey.
The SPS says the shooting occurred sometime before 8:45 p.m. at a residence on 72 Avenue near 142 Street on Sunday.

The facade of the residence was damaged by several gunshots during the incident.
Police did not report any injuries.


The suspect has been charged with one count of attempted murder using a firearm and one count of discharging a firearm at a residence.
He remains in custody and was scheduled to appear in court on Monday afternoon.
The SPS says that this incident is not extortion-related.
