A section of Brooke Road was shut down Wednesday morning as police investigated a shooting at a home in North Delta.
The Delta Police Department says officers responded to reports of shots fired around 5:10 a.m.
“The residence was occupied at the time; fortunately, no one was injured,” said police.
The department’s Major Crime Section says the incident is believed to be connected to an ongoing extortion investigation.

Suspected extortion-related shooting at Surrey home
Earlier Wednesday morning, police in Surrey responded to a shooting at another home in the Newton area.

“Upon arrival, police located a home that had been damaged. Fortunately, nobody was injured as a result of the incident,” said an SPS statement Wednesday afternoon.
It says the investigation is in its early stages, and police are still gathering evidence, but “at this time, it appears that this incident is related to the ongoing series of extortions in Surrey.”
