Police investigating after fatal head-on collision in Burnaby

The Burnaby RCMP says it is investigating after a fatal collision on Monday.

Officers were called to the area of the two-vehicle crash on Marine Way near Roseberry Avenue around 11 p.m.

Mounties say one vehicle was travelling east on Marine when another vehicle, travelling west, crashed into it head-on.

The driver of the westbound vehicle died as a result of the crash.

Police say all others involved were taken to hospital with serious but non-life-threatening injuries.

Cpl. Mike Kalanj says it appears that speed was a contributing factor.

Marine Way has been closed between Nelson and Greenall since the crash. Police say the stretch will reopen once their investigation is complete.

Anyone with information or dashcam footage is asked to call the Burnaby RCMP at 604-646-9999 and refer to file 2026-5701.
