1 dead, 1 seriously injured after crash on HWY 1 in Abbotsford

One person is dead and another seriously injured after a single-vehicle crash on Highway 1 in Abbotsford early Monday morning, police say.

The Abbotsford Police Department (AbbyPD) says it was called to the scene of the collision, located near Cole Road, shortly before 2 a.m.

“Upon arrival, officers located a vehicle that had left the roadway and rolled into the centre median,” AbbyPD said in a news release.

“Two occupants were inside the vehicle and received immediate medical attention at the scene.”

The passenger was pronounced dead, and the driver was airlifted to hospital, the release said.

The driver’s injuries are not considered to be life-threatening.

Highway 1 was closed in both directions after the crash, but has since reopened.

Anyone who witnessed the crash or who may have dashcam footage is asked to call AbbyPD at 604-859-5225.
