Family of woman linked to Pickton file notice of civil claim

By

VANCOUVER (NEWS1130) – The family of a woman whose DNA was found on serial killer Robert Pickton’s farm has become the latest to file a civil case against the police and the killer himself.

Shari and Ryan Murdock, the children of Jacqueline Murdock, have filed a notice of civil claim in BC Supreme Court, alleging the Vancouver police and the RCMP put their mother at risk when they failed to properly investigate cases of missing sex workers.

Five other families have already filed similar lawsuits, and the lawyer representing all of the families has suggested more cases could be on the way.

Murdock was last seen in 1996, and her DNA was found on Pickton’s farm after his arrest, though he was never charged in her death.
