Campbell to remain in charge for the next several months

By

VANCOUVER (NEWS1130) – If you’re wondering who’s holding the reins of power in BC now, it’s still Premier Gordon Campbell. His resignation was not immediate, and it will likely take several months for the Liberal Party to select a replacement.

Chad Peterson with the BC Liberals explains the process. “Our Party Executive will meet within the next 28 days to determine a date for the leadership vote, which has to ensue within the following six months of that meeting.”

And it can happen no sooner than eight weeks after the date is announced, meaning a leadership convention that will see Campbell officially step down will happen sometime between the beginning of February and early June.
