MAPLE RIDGE (NEWS1130) – Ridge Meadows RCMP are searching for a man in his 20’s, after a shooting during a home invasion Saturday night. The incident happened around 7:30 p.m. as the suspect forced his way into a home on 222nd Street near Dewdney Trunk Road and demanded cash.
A man in his 50’s was shot in the hand and was taken to hospital. He is expected to recover.
Inspector Richard Konarsky can’t confirm whether the shooting was targeted. “It’s really hard to say. It seems the person was quite focused on getting in that residence and it’s a little unclear about why he would have chosen that place at that time.”
Konarsky adds a police dog was called in but had no luck finding the suspect. Police say the suspect was last seen wearing a white camouflage hoodie.
