Parents rally against elementary school closures

VANCOUVER (NEWS1130) – Parents are rallying outside the Vancouver School Board offices today with petitions in hand.
Chantel has three children attending Graham Bruce Elementary – one of three schools in the Collingwood area slated for closure.
She says shutting down the school would be a huge mistake. “We need to show the Vancouver School Board that these schools matter, that they need to be taken off the list. [They need to get rid of] the list. There has to be other ways to save money. Closing down schools can’t be the only alternative.”
Carlton and Collingwood Elementary Schools are also set to close their doors next year. The parents have submitted a petition to the VSB superintendent, hoping the board will reconsider.
