New homeowner benefit takes effect

VICTORIA (NEWS1130) – Homeowners in northern and rural parts of BC now have a new tax benefit. Finance Minister Colin Hansen says it will especially help seniors.
“With this new benefit, seniors could be receiving benefit of up to $1045 in reduction to their property taxes,” explains Hansen.
The homeowner grant is funded through carbon tax revenue, part of making the controversial tax revenue neutral.
