Arrest warrant for man charged with promoting hatred

VANCOUVER (NEWS1130) – RCMP believe a man charged with promoting hate on the internet has taken off into the US.

Members of the BC Hate Crime team arrested 59-year-old Paul Craig Cobb in Vancouver last summer, but he was released on a promise to appear. Right after he was let go, police believe he crossed the border.

Inspector Tim Shields says there’s a Canada-wide warrant out for Cobb’s arrest. “This was along the lines of an alleged white supremacist type of website. According to the criminal code, this is without question a violation of Canadian law.”

Mounties are hoping to have Cobb extradited if he’s caught. He’s been charged with the willful promotion of hatred. Shields says it’s a rare charge because offenders usually host their website overseas, making it hard to track them down.
