A fake locksmith is the new scam: BBB

By

VANCOUVER (NEWS1130) – The next time you’ve locked yourself out of the house, don’t be so quick about calling just any locksmith you find online.  The Better Business Bureau has received a few complaints about people saying impostors are showing up to fix their locks.

What’s happening is you’ll call, who you think, is a local locksmith you found on the Internet like Surreylocksmithmaster.info.  That call goes to a switchboard in Florida where they dispatch an un-licensed worker to fix your locks.

The BBB’s Kevin Hollett says they’re fakes and end up charging more than the initial estimate over the phone.  “Ask for the legal name of the business, if they refuse than just call another locksmith.  When the locksmith arrives ask them for identification, ask for a business card and ask to see the [business] license.”

He explains the work is being done, but just not very well.  “If you’ve had any trouble with the work, they don’t have anyone that you can follow up with.”

Another company that says it’s a local business is Locksmith Pro’s.
