Some Walmart stores open 24/7 during Christmas season

VANCOUVER (NEWS1130) – There are just 3.5 weekends left before Christmas Day. While some people have no doubt already checked their list off and wrapped everything, for others, shopping has yet to begin.
It’s a sure sign Christmas is almost here: select Walmart stores are now operating 24/7. Apparently, there’s good reason for these extended hours.
“In the past, Canadians weren’t even aware of Black Friday but we saw this year quite a heightened interest in it on the part of consumers shopping here in Canada,” explains Sally Ritchie with the Retail Council ofCanada.
She doesn’t know how many people take advantage of later holiday hours at local stores, but tells us retailers wouldn’t be doing it if it didn’t make economic sense.
Eighty Walmart stores across Canada will be open around the clock until closing time on Christmas Eve.
