Top Mountie critical of Pickton investigation

By

VANCOUVER (NEWS1130) – A senior Mountie admits he would have investigated serial killer Robert Pickton a little differently. But the officer who reviewed the RCMP’s case won’t say the force made mistakes at the Missing Women Inquiry.

Alberta RCMP Superintendent Bob Williams says, “The surveillance teams that followed had nothing of any significance to report on his activities.”

But he admits when Pickton was under surveillance years ago he didn’t know then the cops had information Pickton was dumping bodies at a reduction plant.

Williams says it may have been a mistake when officers interrogated Pickton with one of his friends in the room. “Personally, I wouldn’t have allowed [them] to be in that room.”

Meanwhile, Commissioner Wally Oppal says he will limit cross-examinations so they can speed up the Missing Women Inquiry.
