OTTAWA (NEWS1130) – Things are slowly getting back to normal in the western Ottawa suburb of Barrhaven, the site of Wednesday’s deadly collision between a city bus and a train.
VIA Rail resumed service through the area this morning, which had been closed since the crash that killed six people on the bus — including the driver — and sent more than 30 to hospital.
The front of the double-decker vehicle was sheared off on impact.
There is now a makeshift memorial at the site.
Transportation Safety Board investigators have retrieved the data recorders from the train and bus, but say they will need help deciphering the information from the bus.
The TSB says it could be months before investigators know what prompted the crash.
