Most British Columbians don’t want a snap election: survey

VANCOUVER (NEWS 1130) – There’s little appetite for another election in this province right now, according to a new survey by the Angus Reid Institute.
Their poll shows a majority of British Columbians would prefer the BC Liberals to accept defeat rather than prevent the NDP from forming government with the support from the Greens.
“Seven in ten British Columbians are more inclined to say that whatever process needs to play out, it should play out rather than having to go back and deal with another election,” explains Shachi Kurl with the pollster.
The survey also implies a sort of ‘remorse’ among a portion of voters, who may have chosen someone else in retrospect.
“About one in ten say that they would have done that, and that includes about one in five people who voted for the BC Green Party,” Kurl says.
But given this new data, if another election were to be called in the next six months, Kurl thinks the outcome would be very similar to what happened on May 9th.
