Mounties in Coquitlam need help solving a case of road rage

COQUITLAM (NEWS 1130) – Mounties in Coquitlam are hoping someone can help them solve a case of road rage that happened a couple of months ago.

They’ve released an image of a man who investigators think is responsible for pepper spraying another driver during a dispute in the area of Lougheed Highway and Brunette Avenue on April 17th at about 7:15 p.m.

Mounties say the driver of one of the cars, described by witnesses as Asian or South Asian, in his late teens or early 20s, just under 6’0″ tall, with a slim build, got out of the driver’s seat of a black Mercedes and used pepper spray on those sitting in a grey Kia.

“There is no excuse for getting out of your vehicle and using a weapon against people in another vehicle,” says Corporal Michael McLaughlin. “Having said that, the initial dispute about who should yield to whom was totally preventable. If you can control your own actions, keep a cool head behind the wheel and avoid confrontations on the road you will make things safer for everyone.”

If you recognize or know the driver of the Mercedes, you are asked to call Coquitlam RCMP at 604.945.1550 and ask for Constable Chabot-Maltais (file# 2017-11461).
