RICHMOND (NEWS 1130) – In a bid to make things easier for travellers, Vancouver International Airport is introducing a new self-service bag drop-off system to make sure you never have to wait in line again.
The joint project between YVR’s Innovative Travel Solutions (ITS) and Glidepath boasts easier accessibility and a two-step process with no pre-registration or fees.
ITS says CHECKITXPRESS allows passengers to drop off their bags without having to wait for an agent and has an average processing time under 10 seconds.
“As passenger numbers continue to increase, the need for innovative approaches to solve global processing challenges is profound,” explains Director of ITS Chris Gilliland, “Our partnership with Glidepath … allows us to provide a solution that we know will improve the travelling experience at not only YVR, but airports around the world.”
The baggage kiosks take up less space in airport terminals and are able to be approached on multiple sides, something that YVR says makes it easier for anyone at any age or mobility to use.
YVR, ITS and Glidepath say they will be rolling out more units in the airport over the year while planning to expand the kiosk to other airports around the world.
The airport authority claims in March of this year, traffic up was more than nine per cent over the previous year and with summer just around the corner the numbers are expected to rise.
