VANCOUVER (NEWS 1130) – An explosive building and equipment fire north of Walnut Grove (near 208th Street and 102b Avenue) this afternoon may have been started by welding equipment.
Langley Township Fire Deputy Chief Bruce Ferguson says it took about 20 fire fighters to put it out.
“It was fully involved. Thick, thick, thick, heavy black smoke emitting from the building, lots of explosions from oxy-acetylene tanks exploding,” he said.
The smoke could be seen from both Highway One and the Golden Ears Bridge.
An equipment and older shed were destroyed in the fire. Damage is estimated to be several hundred thousand dollars.
