VANCOUVER (NEWS 1130) – The city’s most famous crow has suffered yet another loss.
According to a Facebook post, Canuck the Crow and his mate Cassiar were forced to abandon their nest after an airborne attack last week.
“The attack happened going into the evening and over the next couple of days it became evident that the attack indeed was fatal to the little ones in the nest,” the post reads.
Both birds are safe and uninjured, but their chicks sadly did not survive the attack by an apparent predator.
Canuck and Cassiar both returned to the Rookery over the weekend for the first time since the eggs were laid, the post adds.
According to the Canuck and I Facebook page, the eggs were laid in mid-April. They hatched on April 24th, according to the page. “Something to Crow about indeed! Canuck and Cassiar’s little ones have hatched!!!” it reads.
Canuck the Crow grew to fame three years ago when he stole a knife from a crime scene in Vancouver. A documentary has since been made about the bird, and he now has thousands of fans across the globe.

This isn’t the first time Canuck has suffered a loss — last year, another set of Canuck and Cassiar’s chicks were killed.
