Vancouver Police are asking for the public’s help after a woman in her 20’s was violently sexually assaulted in her home. Tom Walsh explains.

VANCOUVER (NEWS 1130) – Vancouver Police are looking for a man who apparently followed a woman home and sexually assaulted her in East Vancouver.

The woman, in her 20’s, was waiting at a bus stop on 41st Avenue near Earles Street on Thursday at 11:30 am, when a man approached her and struck up a conversation. She didn’t end up getting on the bus after realizing she had left something at home.

“She started to walk away and she realized a short time later that the man was following her. This man, apparently caught up with her and engaged in conversation and followed her to her residence,” says Vancouver Police Department Constable Steve Addison.

“The man was able to follow her into her residence and it was there where the woman was attacked and sexually assaulted.”

When asked about the woman’s injuries, Addison says it’s early in the investigation and he’s not in a position to speak to any specific evidence.

The suspect is described as Asian and about 40 years old. He has short black hair and an average build. He was wearing sunglasses, a white tank top, black shorts, and sandals at the time of the attack.

Anyone who may have seen anything or has dashcam video from the area is asked to call the VPD’s Sex Crimes Unit at 604-717-0604, or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
