Celebration of Light finale goes off without a hitch: VPD

VANCOUVER (NEWS 1130) – The final night of the Celebration of Light went off without a hitch. Vancouver Police Sergeant Jason Robillard says other than a few pour outs and a couple of arrests, things were relatively quiet.

“We did have a few arrests but very minor in nature,” he says. “We did have a few pour outs of liquor and those kind of things but those are to be expected at events like this. Overall it was a family event and it went really well.”

He adds there were some concerns about drones, adding it is illegal to fly drones in the city especially during major events like this.

“Things went business as usual for us. Very minimal incidents. We compare it to the other two nights – it went well.”

It’s estimated around 177,000 people made it out on Saturday to see the fireworks finale, provided by Team Croatia.
