Burnaby SFU campus evacuated following reports of man carrying replica gun

BURNABY (NEWS 1130) – A 19-year-old man has been arrested for carrying a replica gun at the SFU Burnaby campus.

Police were called Tuesday afternoon after getting reports of a man carrying a gun, who was believed to be wearing clothing with a police crest.

Several RCMP units were sent to the campus, and parts of the university where the man was last seen were cleared out.

Police were eventually able to find the suspect and arrest him without incident.

The man was apparently carrying a replica firearm, and a ball cap with the RCMP logo on it when he was arrested.

According to SFU, there is no security threat and the campus is secure.
