Vancouver police officer charged with sexual assault

VANCOUVER (NEWS 1130) – A Vancouver Police officer from Surrey has been charged with sexual assault.

Jagraj “Roger” Berar, 51, is facing the charge following an investigation by RCMP over the summer.

The Vancouver Police Department says he is no longer on active duty.

The Squamish RCMP received the complaint about the alleged assault on July 19th.

Mounties add they think this was an isolated incident, and don’t think the allegations are related to his employment.

Neither the RCMP nor the VPD are releasing any further details.
