VANCOUVER (NEWS 1130) — As a summer without the long-standing tradition of the PNE Fair sinks in, one fan favourite won’t be gone completely.
A drive-thru mini donut event featuring four regular concessions will be whipping up the tasty treats while still abiding by physical distancing protocols.
You can still get mini-doughnuts even though the Fair at the @PNE_Playland is closed. From May 22-24, get them through a drive-thru. Enter off Hastings St. (West of Playland). Prices: $20 for 24 doughnuts (plus 2 tix to the 2021 Fair) or $35 for 48 (plus 2 tix to the 2021 Fair). pic.twitter.com/4ZMryyonVw

People can buy a ticket, then drive up to the donut stands this weekend at the Revel District area at Hasting Park where their donuts will be brought to them.
This is the first in the “A Taste of the PNE” series aiming to bring as much of the fair to Vancouver as possible during the pandemic.
“We intend to offer a number of different experiences in this series,” says PNE President and CEO Shelley Frost. “Many of the small businesses that make up our concessionaire and exhibitor core are in dire financial circumstances after losing their entire year as a result of COVID. This is a small way we can help. We’re beginning with what is perhaps the most well-known of all our Fair foods, the mini donut, and we are hoping that people who have reached out to express their support to the PNE will look at this as a way to also support the small businesses who are the heart and soul of this Fair, many of them going back generations with us.”
Those Little Donuts, Tin Lizzy Donuts, CinCity Donuts and the PNE Fundunkers will be making donuts May 22 to 24 between 1 p.m. and 7 p.m.
This summer marks the 110th anniversary of the PNE.
