Man in critical condition after vehicle drives off ramp at Tsawwassen ferry terminal

TSAWWASSEN (NEWS 1130) — A man is in critical condition in the hospital after a bizarre incident that ended with a vehicle dropping 30 feet to the ground at the Tsawwassen ferry terminal Tuesday afternoon.
Deb Marshall, BC Ferries spokesperson, says it happened around 12:30 p.m. when the Coastal Renaissance vessel was docking.

“The last vehicle to be unloaded off the upper deck drove off the ship, accelerated rapidly, and then smashed through a concrete wall,” she tells NEWS 1130.
The vehicle fell about 30 feet, landing on its roof, Marshall adds.
UPDATE: @BCFerries says the car was the last one being loaded off the upper deck. The driver got off the ship, sped up, crashed through a concrete wall and fell into a lower holding compound. The car dropped 30 ft. BCEHS say the driver is in critical condition. @NEWS1130

No other injuries were reported, but she says there will be an investigation to figure out what happened.
BC Emergency Health Services says the man is in critical condition.
