B.C. set to unveil its COVID-19 vaccine rollout plan Wednesday

VICTORIA (NEWS 1130) – British Columbians will soon know more about the province’s COVID-19 vaccination plans.
B.C. Premier John Horgan will join Provincial Health Officer Dr. Bonnie Henry and Health Minister Adrian Dix later today to reveal details.
This comes after the premier announced on Tuesday that about 4,000 high-risk individuals in B.C. would be given the Pfizer vaccine by the end of next week.
The province’s update also comes after Health Canada approved Pfizer’s COVID-19 vaccine for use in this country.

Prime Minister Justin Trudeau announced on Monday that Canada signed a deal with Pfizer to secure up to 249,000 doses of its vaccine by the end of the year.
The government had previously said it hoped to receive the first shipments of a COVID-19 vaccine in early January.
The initial doses will be divided among the provinces on a per-capita basis.
B.C. reported 566 new cases of COVID-19 on Tuesday, along with 16 new deaths related to the virus. There are more than 9,300 active cases of COVID-19 in B.C.
Meanwhile, the U.K. began its COVID-19 vaccination campaign on Tuesday. It didn’t go off without a hitch, however, with U.K. regulators receiving two reports of possible allergic reactions.
