Massive jade boulder stolen from outside Cache Creek gift shop

CACHE CREEK (NEWS 1130) – Somebody — for some reason — has stolen a 2,850 pound jade boulder from the front of a family-owned gift shop in Cache Creek.

According to a post on the Cariboo Jade Shop Facebook page, the giant rock went missing just before midnight on Saturday.

The business has shared photos of a suspicious truck seen leaving the area: an older-model grayish Dodge extended cab diesel pickup, which was pulling a flat deck trailer with an excavator on it.

The vehicle was last seen travelling towards Kamloops, according to the post, and anyone with information is being asked to call the RCMP.

The jade boulder has been a fixture of the Cariboo Jade Shop for years, and while impressive to look at, it doesn’t have a lot of monetary value.
