VANCOUVER (NEWS 1130) — Getting to and from the airport through the Canada Line will be a little more difficult Saturday due to the snow.

TransLink says a snow-related switching issue has forced them to cut off Canada Line service to YVR, putting buses on the route instead.
“We’re running a shuttle train between Bridgeport and YVR. We’ve also added an extra bus service in place to manage passenger flow,” TransLink spokesperson Gabrielle Price explains. “But right now, all passengers are able to still take Canada Line and those passengers that are intending to go between Bridgeport and the airport will have to transfer trains at Bridgeport station.”

While the rest of their services are moving as normally, Price says they’re ready to adapt.
“We are ready to deploy tire socks. So far, conditions haven’t don’t aren’t needing that at the moment, but we’ll continue to keep a close eye on those routes on North Shore, up Burnaby Mountain, and in the tri-cities, of course.”
TransLink does say their service is only as good as the roads they ride on, advising bus passengers to keep tabs on their service through social media.
“Before they head out to their commute, be sure to keep your eye posted on the delay page and check your route before you head out so you’re not hopefully not waiting too long.”
On the island, there are some severe road conditions and some buses aren’t running.
