COVID-19 cluster reported at Port Coquitlam Costco; outbreak at VGH declared

VANCOUVER (NEWS 1130) – A number of COVID-19 cases have been reported at the Costco in Port Coquitlam.
Fraser Health is not calling it an outbreak, instead using the term “COVID-19 cluster” to describe what’s going on.
“We are taking an aggressive management approach which includes expanded testing and immunization in order to prevent an outbreak and closure,” the health authority says in a statement.
Fraser Health was at the store over the weekend testing and immunizing workers in response to the cluster.

Meanwhile, there’s been an outbreak at a unit in the Jim Pattison Pavilian at Vancouver General Hospital.
Two patients in the T14G unit have tested positive for the coronavirus, forcing the unit to shut down to new admissions and transfers.
Vancouver Coastal Health says Infection Prevention and Control protocols are now in place. In addition to closing the unit to new patients, measures include the careful monitoring of patients, staff, and physicians; enhanced cleaning; cohorting staff to the affected area; and the suspension of visitors to the unit, with exemptions.
According to VCH, another outbreak, this time in the T11D unit at VGH’s Jim Pattison Pavilion, has since ended.
Vancouver General Hospital remains open.
