B.C. records 515 new COVID-19 cases, two deaths

VANCOUVER (NEWS 1130) – The daily case count in the COVID-19 pandemic in B.C. continue to decline, with 515 infections recorded on Tuesday.
This is a moderately lower number compared to the weekend, when there was an average of 586 new cases per day.
The Fraser Health Authority continues to see the highest proportion of cases, with 300 (58 per cent) of Tuesday’s new cases.

There are 426 people hospitalized with the illness, including 141 who are in the ICU.
B.C. recorded two more COVID-related deaths, for a total of 1,624 since the pandemic began.

A joint statement from Provincial Health Officer Dr. Bonnie Henry and Health Minister Adrian Dix says 2,219,856 vaccine doses have been administered in B.C., 110,516 of which are second doses.
“The number of people protected with a COVID-19 vaccine is going up every day, and the number of people requiring care in hospital is trending down. This is what we want to see and what we want to keep going,” they say in the statement.
The province is currently contacting people aged 40 and up who have registered for the age-based program to book vaccination appointments.
