Vancouver Police enlisted RCMP helicopter to disperse crowd at English Bay

VANCOUVER (NEWS 1130) — If you live in the West End, you might have seen a police helicopter hovering over English Bay at some point Friday night. That was the RCMP’s Air 1, trying to disperse a large crowd that had gathered at the beach.

The helicopter lit up the area in an attempt to encourage partiers on the beach to go home.
“Our officers were there to disperse the group and advise that the beach was closed,” the VPD said in an email statement to CityNews.
The Vancouver Police Department says at one point a fight broke out, and officers made two arrests.
