BC Ferries’ sailings to Vancouver Island booking up fast Thursday

VANCOUVER (NEWS 1130) – It appears many people are trying to get a jumpstart on a getaway for the first weekend without B.C. travel restrictions. BC Ferries sailings from the Tsawwassen terminal on Thursday have been booking up quickly.
The sailings to Swartz Bay at 1 p.m., 3 p.m. were both booked shortly after noon. A 4 p.m. sailing was added and was filled immediately. The 7 p.m. sailing is full, and the 9 p.m. sailing is 80 per cent booked. The sailings from Tsawwassen to Duke Point have also been filling up. As of 6 p.m., the 8:15 sailing is 95 per cent booked, and the 10:45 p.m. sailing is half full.
The Horeseshoe Bay to Departure Bay route has also been busy, but less so.
Travellers may be trying to take advantage of a sunny weekend, and also spend the weekend away for Father’s Day on Sunday.

Earlier this week, B.C. entered the second phase of its restart plan, which allows British Columbians to travel across the province without any restrictions.
