Lytton, B.C. records Canada’s hottest-ever temperature — again

LYTTON (NEWS 1130) — The Village of Lytton, B.C. has broken the record for the all-time hottest temperature ever recorded in Canada — again.
On Monday, the Fraser Canyon municipality was a sweltering 47.9 C, once more surpassing the previous record of 45 C that was set in Saskatchewan in 1937.

British Columbia has reached the peak of high temperatures forecast as part of the province’s ‘dangerous, long-duration heatwave.’
But NEWS 1130 Meteorologist Michael Kuss says there’s no break for Tuesday morning, even though the forecast has temperatures dropping slightly on the Lower Mainland.
“Here’s the interesting thing: Tuesday morning’s low could be the warmest — 23 to 26 degrees, so not great sleeping tonight. But it will be a little bit cooler tomorrow; 28 to 32 degrees,” he says.
“This is the real concern — we’re looking at overnight lows down in the 20s. Even this morning, the coldest temperatures we have are 20, 21 degrees — and that’s out in Mission, out in Agassiz. Pretty much everywhere else is 22 to 26 degrees, feeling near 30 first thing, and that’s the concern. You just don’t have the opportunity to cool down.”
