40,000 BC Hydro customers in Vernon, Revelstoke without power

VERNON (NEWS 1130) — Over 40,000 customers in the Okanagan and Columbia-Shuswap region are without power Sunday, as BC Hydro is reporting 23 outages in areas including Vernon, Salmon Arm and Revelstoke.

The service provider says crews are are working on a transmission circuit failure near Vernon, while the same reason is behind outages in Revelstoke.

Another 1,100 customers are without power near Golden, east of Revelstoke.

The utility says crews are working to restore power to all those affected with updates to be posted online.
