WHISTLER (NEWS 1130) — The family of a man who was killed in Whistler over the weekend is describing his killing as a senseless act of violence and his loss as “the most painful thing that any parent has to go through.”
Henry Stanley Garcia Molina, 26, has been identified by homicide investigators as the victim of a stabbing outside of a pub in the Whistler village in the early hours of Saturday morning.
Garcia Molina’s family is pleading for anyone who has information about the attack to come forward, saying he was trying to get a taxi back to his hotel when he was killed.
“Henry’s life did not deserve to be taken away so brutally,” the family writes in a statement shared by police.
“Henry left a positive impact on everyone he has ever met, including all his family members, his friends from school and various sports teams he was a part of. Henry was very involved with the community and admired by many. He was a kind-hearted young man who was always willing to help others.”

The Integrated Homicide Investigation Team says it has identified “several persons of interest,” and that there were likely “multiple individuals involved in the murder.”
Anyone who was near the Bearfoot Bistor between 1:45 and 2 a.m. on Aug. 14 is being urged to contact IHIT by calling 1-877-551-IHIT (4448) or emailing ihitinfo@rcmp-grc.gc.ca.
“For those individuals that have direct knowledge of this homicide, now is the time to come forward,” says Corp. Timothy Pierotti in a statement.
“We need those with information to come forward immediately and speak the truth. The investigation is active and ongoing and IHIT investigators will be relentless in their pursuit of all available evidence.”
Meantime, a GoFundMe for the family has raised more than $25,000.
“My goal is to do everything I can to support his family with funeral costs and anything they may need while mourning his loss,” the fundraising page reads.
“Henry was one of my best friends. I had known him since we were 6six years old. He truly felt like a brother to me.
“I can confidently say over the last few months Henry was the happiest I had ever seen him. He made dozens of amazing friendships while playing in our volleyball leagues and tournaments, with people that I know will never forget his cheerful personality.”
