Vancouver Police arrest four protesters at climate action demonstration

VANCOUVER (NEWS 1130) — Four protesters were arrested during a climate action demonstration in downtown Vancouver Saturday.

Protesters from Extinction Rebellion blocked the intersection at Georgia Street and Cambie Street to draw attention to the climate crisis.

People played music, held banners, hosted speakers and disrupted traffic to communicate their anxiety about the planet’s future.

The demonstration lasted for a couple hours but police eventually asked the group of around forty people to clear the road.

In a release, Vancouver Police say they arrested four people for mischief after they refused to clear the intersection.

Three men, one woman and a 15-year-old boy were driven to jail and then released after agreeing to appear at a future court date.
