PORT MOODY (NEWS 1130) – Police in Port Moody are pleading for parents to keep tabs on what their kids are up to, after officers struggled to break up a crowd of about 150 intoxicated teens at a local park.
The Monday night party at Rocky Point Park was so big and raucous, police needed to call in help from the RCMP in neighbouring Coquitlam.
Police say many of the kids at the park were drunk or high.
One of the teens reportedly climbed onto a cruiser and tried to damage it. Police say after a brief chase, that person was arrested. Another kid was pepper-sprayed and robbed, though police say the victim refused medical treatment and didn’t cooperate with officers.

“Drinking in public parks is illegal as per the Liquor Control and Licensing Act,” Const. Sam Zacharias said.
“Parents should be mindful of their children’s activities and whereabouts — as it seemed to the officers on scene that many parents were unaware of this gathering and illegal activity taking place.”
No charges are recommended against anyone who was at the park.
