B.C. records highest daily COVID-19 case count in six months

VANCOUVER (NEWS 1130) – Eighteen people have died from COVID-19 over the last three days, as the province recorded 2,239 new cases of COVID-19 over the last 72 hours.
Over the three day reporting period, B.C. saw 876 new cases on Saturday, 657 new cases on Sunday, and 706 new cases on Monday. The recorded cases on Saturday are the highest one day total in six months.
There are now 6,098 active cases of COVID-19 in the province.

This comes as Fraser Health again records the most new infections, with 857. There were 256 cases confirmed in Vancouver Coastal Health, 525 new cases in Interior Health, and 358 in Northern Health. Island Health recorded another 230 new cases. The remaining new cases were in people living outside of Canada.
Hospitalizations due to COVID-19 have remained steady across the province, with 303 people now admitted, including 141 people in ICU.
As of Monday, anyone entering certain non-essential settings such as restaurants and movie theatres will now have to show the official B.C. Vaccine card along with their ID.
Currently, only one dose is required to get into indoor ticketed sporting events, gyms, nightclubs, pubs, weddings, and workshops. However, by Oct. 24, you must be fully vaccinated to access some events, services, and businesses.

There have been five new healthcare facility outbreaks, including four in Fraser Health and one in Vancouver Coastal Health.
Five outbreaks have been declared over, including two in Fraser Health and three in Interior Health.
There are currently a total of 21 active outbreaks, including:
Long-term care: Westminster House, Menno Terrace East, The Residence in Mission, Magnolia Gardens (Fraser Health), Arbutus Care Centre, Louis Brier Home and Hospital (Vancouver Coastal Health), Village at Mill Creek – second floor, Cottonwoods Care Centre, Kamloops Seniors Village, Hillside Village, The Hamlets at Westsyde, Joseph Creek Care Village, Overlander (Interior Health), Jubilee Lodge (Northern Health), and Victoria Chinatown Care Centre (Island Health).
Acute care: Fort St. John Hospital (Northern Health).
Assisted or independent living: Sunset Manor, Hallmark on the Lake (Fraser Health), Hardy View Lodge (Interior Health), Cooper Place (Vancouver Coastal Health).
School or daycare: Maple Ridge Christian School (Fraser Health)
