TSAWWASSEN (NEWS 1130) – If your long weekend plans this Thanksgiving include trips between Vancouver Island and the mainland, you’ll want to take note of some major scheduling changes by BC Ferries.
It says a modified schedule will be in place for the Tsawwassen-Swartz Bay route from Friday, Oct. 8 to Tuesday, Oct. 12.
BC Ferries says this is due to a mechanical difficulty with the starboard gearbox on the Spirit of Vancouver Island. The Coastal Renaissance is being repositioned to help with recovery of that vessel.
Customers who have already booked on affected sailings will be notified.
“Every effort will be made to accommodate bookings on the next available sailing,” BC Ferries says. Customers who cannot be rebooked will get their money back and “travel will revert to standby basis.”
