VANCOUVER (NEWS 1130) — You won’t need to use your data as much on Metro Vancouver transit soon.
TransLink and Shaw are launching free WiFi for people on six RapidBuses, and three SkyTrains. It will also be available at Edmonds Station in Burnaby and at the Carvolth Exchange in Langley Township.
The transit authority says this is the beginning of a system-wide rollout that will provide free WiFi for everyone who takes transit.
Free WiFi is now rolling out on our system! In partnership with Shaw, select vehicles have been equipped with free public WiFi.

The rollout is supposed to be complete by 2026.
“Free WiFi means that our customers can use their transit time for leisure, work, or better connecting with family and friends without spending their money on data fees,” TransLink CEO Kevin Quinn says.
The rollout will prioritize activating WiFi on RapidBuses, SkyTrain’s, and 60-foot articulated buses.
Posters and signage will be on display on vehicles if Wifi is available.
