Many of us have been there: you order a little too much food through a delivery app, and are shocked to see the final bill.
Well, you likely have never spent this much. Uber Eats says someone in Vancouver placed one of the company’s largest orders of the year, spending $1,600.
That’s right — the person’s food bill was on-par with what many in the city pay for rent.
“[The] order was closer to a month’s worth of rent than the average food delivery. Were they feeding a small village or just very, very hungry?” the company writes.
The data comes from the Uber Eats Cravings Report, which looks at a number of different facts and quirky data.
B.C. Uber Eats customers tip the best in Canada, company says
How much do you tip when you order food to your home? Uber Eats says customers in three B.C. cities top its list of the most generous across Canada.
The company says customers in Nanaimo, Victoria, and Kelowna round up the top cities in this country where tipping is highest.
Those three B.C. communities are then followed by Sherbrooke, Quebec City, Gatineau, and Trois-Rivieres — all in Quebec.
Vancouver Island is once again home to one of the highest-ranking cities, with Nanaimo being deemed the “most polite,” based on how often people say things like please and thank you.
Are British Columbians the best tippers in the country? @UberEats list of cities that tipped the most in 2021 has Nanaimo in 1st place followed by Victoria and Kelowna. The largest order placed on the app this year was in Vancouver with someone shelling out $1,600. @CityNewsVAN

Nanaimo is followed by Ottawa and Kingston in Ontario. Victoria comes up in fourth in this category out of 10.
Meanwhile, Uber Eats also tracks what it calls “special requests.” The company has found people in most cities usually ask for extra pickles. But in Vancouver, the most popular special instruction is “no green onions.” People in Victoria often request “gluten-free options.”
But where are the pickiest eaters? According to the report, many of them are in Kelowna, where customers often add special instructions to their orders.
It may come as no surprise to many that Vancouver and Victoria were among the top 10 for healthiest orders. But, they didn’t top the list, ranking fifth and sixth respectively.
Halifax was crowned the top city that orders the most healthy foods. It is followed by Kingston and Montreal.
