Stanley Park, Metro Vancouver regional parks closed due to stormy weather

Vancouver’s Stanley Park, along with others across the region, have been closed due to heavy rain and high winds Monday afternoon.

In a Tweet, the Vancouver Park Board says the move was made “for everyone’s safety,” adding there are park rangers directing traffic out of the park and the gates have been closed.

Pictures on social media of the Seawall showing it being battered with waves has also been closed.

VanDusen Botanical Garden has also closed due to the wind.

In West Vancouver, the Seawalk has been closed due to flooding.

The pier in North Vancouver has also been closed, “due to high winds and king tide.”

The Regional District of Metro Vancouver has closed a number of regional parks and trails those at Boundary Bay, Burnaby Lake, Capilano River, Grouse Mountain, and Pacific Spirit — all due to “hazardous conditions.”
