Surrey shooting victim dies, homicide team called in

A man who was shot at a home in Surrey earlier this week has died in the hospital.

Early Monday morning, RCMP were called to 135 Street near 96 Avenue, where they found the 45-year-old man with life-threatening injuries. He died the next day.

Investigators believe this was a targeted hit.

In an earlier statement, RCMP said the victim was known to police, though he has not been identified.

This was one of three shootings in Surrey in recent days.

Just two hours before this fatal shooting, a 26-year-old man was hurt near 106 Avenue and King George Boulevard. His injuries were minor and police are looking into whether that incident was linked to gangs or drugs.

On Saturday, a woman was shot near 95A Avenue and 133 Street. She is expected to survive. Police believe that shooting was targeted, but the victim was not the intended target.
