Four people have been found dead in a Richmond, B.C. home in what homicide investigators are calling a traumatic incident for the community.
Police were called to the duplex on Garden City Road near Alderbridge Way Tuesday night.
“Upon arrival, Richmond RCMP … found deceased people inside the residence, who are later confirmed be victims of a shooting,” said Sgt. David Lee with the Integrated Homicide Investigation Team (IHIT).
Police say the shooting actually happened Monday evening around 7 p.m.
Investigators believe this was a targeted shooting, however, they do not think it is linked to the Lower Mainland gang conflict.
Police have not yet identified the victims.
“I can’t confirm the relationship at this time, but they are known to each other,” Lee said.
Images taken from the scene Tuesday night show a home surrounded by police tape.

Police do not believe anyone else in the neighbourhood is at risk.
“If they remember hearing anything or seeing anything weird the night before or anything unusual, [they should] contact us,” Lee said.
“It’s a quiet area. They know who belongs there. So as this event unfolds, and in the future, if they see people that don’t belong, vehicles that are just driving around, is always best to call us … and not wait till a day later.”

If you were in the area of Garden City Road near Odlin and Leslie Road Monday night and saw or heard anything suspicious — or if you have any other information, you’re asked to call IHIT at 1-877-551-IHIT (4448) or email ihitinfo@rcmp-grc.gc.ca.
“We hope to provide the community with answers soon,” Lee said.
Neighbour Cornelius Kiptom says he was shocked when he heard four people had been found dead. In the four years he has lived next door, he says he’s never heard anything suspicious or seen police at the home.
“To lose those lives in one night, it’s very sad. Not only for the family, even for us as neighbours,” he told CityNews.
The duplex, according to Kiptom, is home to four families — including a couple with two teenagers.
